1. Our Philosophy
Our journeys embody a quest for a life in harmony with nature and with our essence as humans.
Recognising the negative effects of our increasingly urbanised and unbalanced lifestyles, we feel it is important for us to return, even if it may be just once in a while, to the healing elements of nature, to fresh air, beautiful mountains, flowering valleys, and crystal clear streams.
To experience the restorative properties of nature. To enjoy the serenity and expansiveness of the environment and to be in touch with our innermost essence as humans.
To appreciate simple and harmonious ways of life imbued with age-old culture and wisdom. To unite like-minded individuals and celebrate friendships. To remember the goodness and warmth of the human spirit.
Humans are a microcosm of the universe. Immersed in the elements (space, wind, fire, water and earth) in their pure forms, the corresponding elements of the human body are invigorated. To be well, we need to move away from a limited view of the self, and experience a sense of co-extensiveness with the universe.
Health - To reconnect people to the restorative and healing properties of nature.
Contemplation - The primordial energy and peacefulness of the landscape encourages contemplation and restfulness.
Humanity - Visiting communities that maintain simple and sustainable ways of life informed by age-old knowledge, and where traditional cultures and values flourish. This rekindles the depth and beauty of the human spirit, and nourishes our minds.
Our work represents a quest for a life of meaning and beauty. We appreciate nature and cherish human goodness, and we value sincerity, purpose and a positive disposition.
We look for experiences which are simple, genuine, raw and filled with the warmth of humanity.
We respect and love our work, and take great pride in ensuring that our journeys present depth, are thoughtful, creative and contributes towards the well-being of our guests.
MODE OF TRAVEL
We welcome individuals, families, groups of friends or associations.
In most countries the tours include accommodation, private transport, guide and all meals (except in Japan, New Zealand, Switzerland and Austria).
In Japan, New Zealand, Switzerland and Austria, one may choose a combination of private and rail transport. Unless the group is large, tours are usually undertaken on an independent basis without a guide and where only certain meals are included.
All journeys can be arranged from any country of origin, or can be done as a land-only tour without the international flight component.
We seek to be as comprehensive as possible in the itineraries offered on the website, including all major sites in each destination. Often, guests may propose an abridged form of the itinerary according to interest, budget and time constraints. Hence, our itineraries are most useful as a point of reference, and we usually anticipate modifications and amendments based on specific preferences.
Time for Leisure
We recognise it is important for guests to have ample time to enjoy each place at leisure. Hence, instead of moving from place to place at a hectic pace, and except at transit stops, we try to allow for at least two nights stay in each place, to provide for an immersive experience. We do encourage guests to extend their stay at a certain places based on their interest.
